Why nobody posts one number (and who’s hiding what)
Ask five turf companies what artificial grass costs and you’ll get five kinds of dodge. Here’s the honest reason a single number doesn’t exist: material price varies about 2× across a real catalog (face weight is the engine; our line runs 65 to 130 ounces per square yard), freight varies by your ZIP code, and installation varies with your specific yard. Anyone quoting one national number is averaging away the things that determine yours.
The dodge to actually watch for is "free shipping." Rolls of turf weigh hundreds of pounds; that freight bill exists, and a supplier advertising free shipping has moved it into the material price where you can’t see or compare it. We quote turf and freight as separate, visible lines that add to one landed number, because that’s the number your budget actually needs.
The four layers of a real budget
- Material: driven by face weight and fiber engineering. Value lines cover great lawns; realism flagships and dense performance products cost more per foot. Volume discounts start at 500+ sqft on most of our products.
- Roll math: turf ships on 15-ft rolls. A supplier who plans your cuts charges you for your yard plus 3–5% overage; one selling fixed rolls charges you for the leftover too. Ask which you’re getting.
- Freight: in California, our own trucks with published zone rates ($0–$99). Elsewhere, hub pickup (a forklift loads your trailer, the cheapest option) or door delivery quoted to your ZIP.
- Installation: the labor half, quoted by installers based on site prep, access, and shape. DIY erases it; our free referrals price it for you if not.

The other column: what the lawn stops costing
A cost conversation that ignores the savings column is half a conversation. Natural lawns drink an estimated 30–50 gallons of water per square foot per year, plus mowing, fertilizer, and sprinkler upkeep, and those bills recur forever. Run your own rates through our savings calculator; for many projects, especially in the West, the payback lands comfortably inside the 16-year warranty window.
Getting your actual number takes about ten minutes: measure with the satellite tool, pick a product tier, and send your ZIP. We return turf plus freight as one landed price, no games. That’s the quote we’d want as buyers, so it’s the one we give.
