Sustainability

Green that doesn’t cost the planet water.

Our mission is environmentally responsible landscape solutions. Here is what that means in actual gallons, chemicals, and emissions.

Water: the headline number.

A natural lawn consumes an estimated 30–50 gallons of water per square foot per year. Across a modest 1,000 sqft yard that is up to 40,000 gallons annually; across a 5,000 sqft commercial frontage, up to 200,000. In the drought-affected West, where much of our customer base lives, that water increasingly has better places to be. An artificial lawn takes landscape irrigation to zero from day one, which is why water-conservation mandates keep accelerating the industry.

Chemicals: none, twice over.

Keeping natural grass green means fertilizer; keeping it uniform means herbicides and pesticides. Those chemicals do not stay on the lawn; they run off into storm drains and soak toward groundwater. Artificial grass ends the applications entirely. And the product itself follows the same principle: every EGD line is PFAS-free and lead-free, with materials data published on every product page.

Emissions: retire the mower.

Gas mowers, edgers, and blowers are disproportionately dirty engines, and a weekly mowing schedule runs them for hours across every season. A lawn that never grows needs none of it: no fuel burned on your property and none burned by a landscaping crew driving to it every week.

Longevity is sustainability.

The most sustainable product is the one you do not replace. EGD turf is built on heavy-denier, UV-stabilized fiber, carries a 16-year warranty, and lasts 15–25 years with basic care. One installation, decades of green, with a savings profile that pays the project back while it works.

The Per-Yard Math

What every 1,000 sqft converted actually does.

No inflated “gallons saved to date” odometer, because we don’t keep a verified running total of every square foot our customers have installed, so we won’t invent one. Here is the honest version: the estimated impact of a single 1,000 sqft conversion, which you can scale to your own yard.

40,000 gal

Estimated water saved per year

Midpoint of the 30–50 gal/sqft/yr estimate: 30,000–50,000 gallons depending on your climate.

800,000 gal

Estimated water saved over a 20-year life

The same annual estimate across the midpoint of the 15–25 year lifespan. Drier climates land higher.

52

Mowing sessions retired per year

A weekly gas-mower schedule, gone, along with the edger and blower that ride along with it.

All figures are estimates from the published 30–50 gal/sqft/yr range and the 15–25 year lifespan above. Want your yard’s numbers with your own water rate? Run the savings calculator.
