Red flags 1–3: the missing numbers
- No drainage rate. Every legitimate manufacturer measures permeability. A sheet that says "excellent drainage" with no in/hr figure is hiding a number that embarrassed someone.
- No lead or PFAS data. Safety results are cheap to publish if they’re good. Absence isn’t neutral; it’s the answer.
- Face weight vs total weight games. Total weight includes the backing; face (pile) weight is the fiber you actually walk on. A sheet flaunting only total weight may be selling you heavy backing and thin grass.
Red flags 4–5: the structural tells
- Warranty vagueness. "Limited lifetime warranty" from an unnamed manufacturer beats nothing, but barely. A warranty is only as durable as the company behind it, so look for stated years, named backers, and published exclusions (yes, published exclusions are a good sign; it means the document is real).
- No stitch density or gauge. Density is the durability spec; a sheet without stitches/m² or machine gauge prevents the one comparison that would expose a loosely-tufted product.

What a trustworthy sheet looks like
Ten-plus rows, real units, safety results printed, warranty years and backers named. We publish exactly that on every product page, not from virtue but because informed comparison is the fight we win. Pull up any competitor’s sheet next to ours and count the rows; the difference is the argument.
