Does artificial grass attract bugs or pests?

Answered by Evan Benjamin: straight answers from 31+ years of combined industry experience.

The opposite, mostly. A natural lawn is a habitat: soil full of grubs and larvae, thatch that shelters insects, and irrigation moisture that invites everything from ants to mosquitoes. Turf removes the menu: there’s no living root zone to eat, the compacted base under it is a poor home, and fast drainage means no standing water for mosquitoes to breed in. Most customers notice fewer bugs within the first season, and grub-hunting visitors (moles, raccoons tearing up lawn) lose their reason to visit entirely.

What turf doesn’t do is sterilize your yard; the planting beds, trees, and fence lines around it are still nature, and a dropped popsicle will interest ants on any surface. The one habit that matters: rinse food spills and pet waste promptly so nothing accumulates in the pile. Beyond that, you’ve retired the pesticide sprayer along with the mower.
