Legacy 97's signature number is 12,600: the denier of its face yarn, the heaviest fiber in the entire catalog. Thicker fiber means each W blade carries visible body, with a width and substance closer to a real rye or fescue blade than the fine filaments of lighter turf. It also means endurance; a blade with that much polymer behind it stands through years of high traffic before it thinks about creasing.
Around that fiber, Legacy 97 layers its colors the way a lawn grows them: olive and field green through the 1.77 in. face, tan woven into the thatch below. The warm base changes how the whole surface reads. Where an all-green pile can look painted, light falling into Legacy 97 finds straw tones at the bottom of every parting, which is the detail eyes use to decide grass is real.

Legacy 97 is built to be both: the realism comes from layered color, and the stamina comes from that heavyweight yarn, independently wear-tested to the FIFA Quality standard. Legacy 97 arrives on 15 ft. wide rolls up to 100 ft. long (1,500 square feet per roll); plan cuts off the 15 ft. width and keep grain direction uniform, aiming it toward the main viewpoint. Spread 1.5 to 2.0 lbs of infill per square foot in passes, power brooming between so the heavy 1.77 in. blades seat upright. Is Legacy 97 really our most natural looking turf?
It is the one we built specifically for that goal, through two means: 12,600 denier face yarn that gives each blade the width of real grass, and a tan thatch layer so partings show straw tones instead of green plastic. Legacy 92 and 107 chase realism through mixed blade shapes instead. Order samples of both approaches; at arm's length the difference is a matter of taste.
Does thicker yarn make the lawn feel stiff or scratchy?
No. Denier measures fiber weight, and the blade is still soft polyethylene; it bends, it just takes far longer to crease permanently. Underfoot Legacy 97 feels substantial and springy rather than silky, and barefoot comfort is good: the 1.77 in. height with full infill gives it cushion without the floppiness of finer yarn.
How much traffic can a realism-first build take?
Legacy 97 is rated for high traffic, and the construction carries FIFA Quality certification, meaning it passed the independent wear-cycle testing used for soccer surfaces. Daily family use, pets sharing the yard and constant foot traffic are inside its envelope. Concentrated single-lane abuse, like a dog run, still belongs on EverPet 87.
